Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ordered police units nationwide on Wednesday to step up patrols and security presence in public spaces as the country enters the “ber” months, kicking off the long holiday season.
Nartatez instructed regional and city police offices to heighten foot and mobile patrols around commercial centers, transit terminals, public markets, and other high-density areas.
“We have directed our police units to strengthen police visibility, patrols and monitoring in areas where people are expected to converge,” Nartatez said.
“Our priority is to prevent crimes before they happen and ensure a safe and peaceful holiday season,” he added.
