More than 4,500 police personnel have been deployed across Cagayan Valley as the Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2) heightened security measures for the observance of Ninoy Aquino Day on 21 August.
PRO2 said 4,556 personnel have been assigned to checkpoints, border control points, traffic assistance posts and reactionary standby forces, including personnel from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 2.
Additional police officers have been deployed for mobile and foot patrols, particularly in areas expected to draw large crowds, including schools and other public places.
The regional police office has also coordinated with local government units and other government agencies to ensure unified security measures and a swift response to incidents that may threaten public safety.
Personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard and local governments are also supporting the security deployment.
PRO2 Regional Director PBGen Mariano C. Rodriguez urged the public to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious activities or incidents to authorities.
Rodriguez said the heightened security measures aim to ensure a peaceful and orderly observance while safeguarding residents and visitors throughout Cagayan Valley.
