  • The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the provincial government of Davao de Oro on Monday formally signed a deed of land donation for the establishment of a home for elderly residents.

The three-hectare property in Barangay Pasian, Monkayo, Davao de Oro, will serve as the site of the Group Home for the Elderly, which the DSWD said will be established as the Older Adult Supportive Integrated Services (OASIS) Village.

The facility will provide residential care and support for abandoned, neglected, and at-risk senior citizens.

“This facility is a product of the collaboration between the provincial government of Davao de Oro through Gov. Raul Mabanglo and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under Secretary Rex Gatchalian, for our senior citizens who have been abandoned, neglected, and are in dangerous situations,” Davao de Oro 1st District Representative Maria Carmen Zamora-Mabanglo said in a social media post.

The facility will be built within Pasian Farm, which Zamora-Mabanglo said would provide senior citizens with a relaxing environment.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian and Undersecretary for Operations Monina Josefina Romualdez accepted the donated property on behalf of the agency.

Zamora-Mabanglo and Davao de Oro Gov. Raul Mabanglo represented the provincial government as the donor of the land.
