The Philippines and China have figured in a series of increasingly tense confrontations in the WPS over the past years.
Marikina City authorities deployed high-capacity booster pumps to hard-hit neighborhoods Monday after the failure of a primary pumping station left several communities inundated by monsoon rains.
Mayor Marjorie Ann “Maan” Teodoro announced that newly deployed mobile booster pumps were sent to Barangays Malanday and Tumana to accelerate the removal of standing floodwaters toward drainage outfalls.
Teodoro said the booster pumps feature roughly three times the discharge capacity of the existing units installed at the Tumana Pumping Station in the city’s second district.
“The objective is to increase the volume of water discharged per hour and accelerate the drainage of accumulated floodwater while clearing and pumping operations continue,” Teodoro said in a statement.
