OLONGAPO CITY, Zambales — A dismissed police officer allegedly shot a husband and wife outside their residence in Barangay Old Cabalan here on the evening of 7 August 2026.
The suspect, identified as 41-year-old alias Jerry, was apprehended by the victims and their children shortly after the shooting.
According to a report from Olongapo City Police Office Station 4, the incident occurred at around 8:15 p.m. along Mulawin Lane, Purok 12, Barangay Old Cabalan.
Police said 52-year-old Dennis had just gotten out of his vehicle at their gate when the suspect appeared with a firearm. Dennis was shot twice — once in the shoulder and once in the torso — during a struggle with the suspect.
The suspect then allegedly fired at the passenger side of the vehicle where Dennis’ wife, 54-year-old Rowena, was seated. Rowena managed to duck, but the bullet grazed her head.
The suspect failed to escape after Dennis confronted him, while nearby residents and the couple’s two children immediately responded and helped restrain him.
Police recovered two 9mm firearms from the suspect — a 9mm Luger and a 9mm Daewoo.
Dennis was rushed to Baypointe Medical Center in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone for treatment, while Rowena received first aid.
The suspect is facing charges of frustrated murder, attempted murder and violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
