DGTG gymnasts eye Kadayawan glory

DAVAO CITY — Fresh from their national and international stints, young gymnasts from the Davao Golden Twist Gymnastics (DGTG) Training Center are gearing up for the 2nd Kadayawan Gymnastics Cup set on 21 and 22 August at the Ayala Malls Abreeza.
DGTG coach Rejay Dave Ligutom said their experience from the previous competitions will play a key factor going into this two-day competition.
DGTG’s recent stints were held at the British School Manila Sports Gymnastics Meet held last March in Taguig City, the Philippine Cup 2026 in Pasig City, Moose Games 2026 in Bangkok; the ISM Goodwill Gymnastics Meet also in Taguig last May and the recent Shanghai Gymnastics Club Invitational last July in Shanghai, China.
Right now, the DGTG has a total of 82 gold, 28 silver, four bronze, medals; 51 apparatus medal rankings; one team trophy; three all-around champions; and 23 all-around winners across 29 placements.
“Competing in these series of tournaments places the kids on a higher moral when they perform in the next competition,” Ligutom said during the weekly Davao Sportswriters Association Forum last Thursday.
DGTG Training Center is a city-based artistic gymnastics club that was credited as the first Gymnastics Association of the Philippines-affiliated club in Davao.
