The Filipino independent film I’m Perfect is taking its story to Europe after earning a spot in the official international selection of the 27th Lucania Film Festival in Italy. The film’s cast and creative team have traveled to the southern Italian region of Basilicata to attend the festival and represent the Philippines on the global stage.

Recognized as one of Europe’s established celebrations of independent cinema, the Lucania Film Festival gathers filmmakers, producers and artists from different parts of the world to showcase innovative storytelling and fresh cinematic voices. The inclusion of I’m Perfect further expands the film’s international reach following its acclaimed festival run in Manila in December 2025.

Its producers said the movie is the first Filipino feature-length film to receive an official invitation to the festival, marking another milestone for Philippine independent filmmaking. The selection also reflects the increasing visibility of local productions in major international film events.

During the festival, the Philippine delegation is joining fellow filmmakers and industry representatives from Europe, Asia and other regions in a series of screenings, discussions and networking activities aimed at fostering cultural exchange and future collaborations.

Producer Ria Atayde-Marudo of Nathan Studios described the invitation as a testament to the commitment of the entire team behind the project. She added that the festival provides an important platform to introduce Filipino creativity and storytelling to a wider international audience.

The participation of I’m Perfect continues the strong momentum of Philippine cinema overseas, as more homegrown films earn recognition, festival invitations and critical acclaim across the globe.
