A Chinese national was arrested by Taguig City police after he allegedly confronted and berated the occupants of a sport utility vehicle during a road rage incident in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) on Friday evening.
On Saturday, the police identified the suspect only as alias Xiangjie, 28, a key account specialist and a resident of Two Serendra in Barangay Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
The Taguig City Police Station Sub-Station 1 said the incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on 31 July at the intersection of 11th Avenue and 39th Street in BGC.
Initial police reports showed that Xiangjie was riding a bicycle when he suddenly stopped in front of a pedestrian lane, forcing the driver of an SUV traveling behind him to slam on the brakes to avoid a collision.
Police said the cyclist then dismounted, walked toward the vehicle and repeatedly struck the roof on the right front passenger side while shouting offensive and insulting remarks at both the driver and the passenger.
Investigators said the suspect also allegedly made an obscene hand gesture toward the vehicle’s occupants before BGC marshals and responding police officers stepped in to defuse the situation.
The suspect was subsequently taken into police custody for investigation.

Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Glenn Oliver C. Cinco commended the swift response of police personnel and BGC marshals, saying authorities would continue to enforce the law fairly regardless of a person’s nationality.
“The SPD will enforce the law fairly and decisively, ensuring safety and respect in public spaces,” Cinco said.
