A stolen motorcycle was recovered and a suspect surrendered following a law enforcement operation across Metro Manila, police said.

The Mandaluyong City Police Station reported that the vehicle was retrieved Friday after coordination between its Anti-Carnapping Unit, the Highway Patrol Group–Eastern Police District and local barangay officials.

Reports disclosed that the theft occurred around 4:30 a.m. on 9 September outside a residence on Hilaga Street in Barangay Barangka Drive.

The owner discovered her motorcycle missing and immediately reported the incident to the Hulo Police Sub-Station 4.

Investigators reviewed local security camera footage, where the victim identified a 32-year-old neighbor living on the same street as the individual who allegedly took the vehicle.

Following police tracking efforts, the suspect returned home with his parents around 7 a.m. on Friday and contacted authorities through the Barangay Barangka Drive Hall.

Police said the suspect admitted to abandoning the motorcycle at a condominium complex in Paco, Manila, after running out of fuel.

Officers went to the location and recovered the vehicle, which was confirmed by the owner and placed in the temporary custody of the Eastern Police District.

Investigators are preparing charges against the suspect for violating the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 through the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office.
