An accountancy college dean faces multiple administrative complaints before the Professional Regulation Commission–Professional Regulatory Board of Accountancy (PRC-BoA) over the alleged unauthorized use of copyrighted licensure exam materials and the publication of a private message.

In a verified complaint-affidavit, Real Excellence Online Philippines Inc. (REO) accused Hilario G. Tan of acquiring and using the review center's proprietary CPA examination content without authorization.

REO, which commercially produces original video lectures and written study guides through controlled-access platforms, alleged that Tan copied and redistributed its copyrighted materials without consent.

The firm urged the PRC-BoA to determine whether Tan violated the Philippine Accountancy Act of 2004 and professional ethical standards.

A second complaint filed with the PRC-BoA alleges that Tan obtained a private Messenger conversation and published it on his public Facebook page without permission.

The complaint asks regulatory authorities to evaluate whether the act warrants the suspension or revocation of Tan’s professional license and registration as a certified public accountant.

Tan is a practicing CPA, accountancy educator and board exam lecturer.

In addition to the regulatory complaints, REO requested that the university where Tan serves as dean launch an internal probe. The request, sent on 12 August through Bartolome Salazar and Partners Law, asks the institution to evaluate whether Tan violated university policies or professional codes.

The university acknowledged receipt of the request and confirmed the matter is undergoing internal review. The allegations remain subject to investigation by the school and administrative authorities.
