Let us talk of China’s perceived motives and strategies and its massive support for VP Sara related to the next Philippine elections.
China desperately wants the younger Duterte to replace her old man, who is in jail. This is the critical sine qua non (that without which there is nothing). The success of Digong as the total loyal puppet must be continued. China wants Sara as the new puppet for its geopolitical interests.
This is premised on Sara being able to run for president. If Sara is disqualified from running following her impeachment, can the Supreme Court overturn it, for whatever reason, flimsy or irrelevant? China can pour in billions for Sara, which is peanuts compared to the return on its investment, because her being president is crucial to it.
Let’s bring up some questions. Can her impeachment derail her election ambition? Is an impeached VP qualified to run? Can the Supreme Court, the final battleground for this issue, whose decision gravely matters, reverse a legislative decision prohibiting her from running? Does Duterte control the Supreme Court? If not, can she buy her way in any way with massive funds.
Sara will have China’s “massive and unwavering support” in terms of campaign funds, as well as funds for the Duterte boys in the Lower House, the Senate, the Supreme Court justices, and the Comelec.
It is hard to imagine that past goats will evolve into sheep, have the conscience to turn over a new leaf, in spite of “unlimited” offers, in the name of saving the nation and the Filipino people. Is this too much to ask of our politicians? Many on social media are saying “Yes!” before the question is even asked.
Finally, a short note. The Senate should send a terse diplomatic protest to Beijing for the harassment we receive from their diplomats here, whose idea of good diplomacy is undiplomatic.
Legalization of Chinese underground activities
China’s agenda is short but very critical.
1) Influence our lawmakers to ensure the legalization of what China wants. For example, the resurrection of the accursed POGO which brought massive windfalls for Chinese businessmen, but which brought torture, human trafficking, and prostitution to Filipinos.
2) The reentry of Chinese triad elements to do “business,” bribing Filipinos with offers that cannot be refused. Remember Alice Guo, the darling of local policemen because she was known to give handsome rewards.
What are China’s plans to neutralize the clout of its arch-enemy, Marcos Jr., whose endorsed candidates represent the pro-America faction? He is the key to a US and CIA-supported retention of power, whose funds can actually match those of the Chinese, dollar for yuan.
The first thing Sara will do on behalf of the Chinese is dismantle the many US EDCA bases, which can host attack and reconnaissance drones in the event of war over Taiwan. Perhaps, she would need congressional approval for that. The expulsion of the EDCA bases will diminish the possibility of massive collateral damage to nearby Filipino communities.
The presence of the Americans has its advantages and disadvantages. Advantage is deterrence. China may perhaps avoid a direct confrontation with the US at this time of uncertainty, especially in the ongoing US-China chip wars related to AI initiatives.
It may also reduce the brinkmanship employed by the China Coast Guard in our West Philippine Sea. A US-China confrontation in the Taiwan-Luzon theater will be to our disadvantage.
Overall, it is a proxy war — of giants eyeball-to-eyeball at the doorstep of our tiny country.
We need to pray to the Queen of Peace, the Virgin who loves this nation and the Filipino people.
She can ease all our mammoth problems if we pray to the Lord through her. Let us ask the CBCP to conduct a massive prayer campaign, not necessarily to reject Sara as a presidential candidate, which they will not do, but to “save the nation” from another crisis.
