Dear Atty. Nico,
Operatives of the Eastern Police District (EPD) have arrested Pasig City’s eighth most wanted person for alleged rape by sexual assault involving an 8-year-old girl.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Jimmy,” 47, was arrested at about 2:55 p.m. Friday in front of Steel Center Philippines in Barangay Manggahan, Pasig City, by personnel of the EPD’s District Mobile Force Battalion.
The arrest was carried out by virtue of a warrant issued on 24 June by the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 12.
The suspect faces a charge of rape by sexual assault, with bail set at P200,000.
Police said the case stemmed from an incident in February in Barangay Manggahan, where the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted the child while she was visiting his residence.
Authorities said the victim later disclosed the alleged abuse to her mother, prompting the family to seek police assistance.
Investigators said the family initially hesitated to report the incident after receiving alleged threats and false claims intended to discourage them from filing a complaint.
They eventually sought police intervention, leading to an investigation and the issuance of an arrest warrant.
Following his arrest, the suspect was taken to the District Mobile Force Battalion Intelligence Office for booking and documentation.
He was later brought to Rizal Medical Center for a mandatory medical examination before being transferred to the custodial facility of the Pasig City Police Station, where he will remain pending further court proceedings.
