A Filipino-Indian community leader was among those recognized by the Eastern Police District (EPD) during the 31st Police Community Relations (PCR) Month celebration for supporting Philippine National Police programs and community initiatives.
The July celebration highlighted the partnership among the police, local communities and private sector stakeholders in promoting public safety and crime prevention.
EPD director Brig. Gen. Melecio Buslig thanked government agencies, civic groups and private organizations that have assisted the police in carrying out its programs. The EPD oversees police operations in Mandaluyong, San Juan, Marikina and Pasig.
Among those honored was Tristan James Kumar, president of the Filipino-Indian Commerce and Welfare Society Inc., for supporting PNP initiatives and community service programs.
Buslig said PCR Month serves as the PNP’s culminating activity to strengthen ties between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
“It emphasizes the strong partnership among the community, the police and the government to achieve lasting peace and security in our areas of responsibility,” Buslig said.
