House prosecutor Rep. Gerville Luistro urged the Senate to allow both sides in Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial to fully explain their responses to clarificatory questions from senator-judges instead of limiting them to yes-or-no answers.

"I hope that all parties are given the opportunity to explain their position, not just a simple yes or no," Luistro said in a radio interview.

Her remarks followed an exchange with Sen. Robin Padilla, who questioned whether prosecution witnesses had pending court cases and urged prosecutors to remain fair in presenting their case.

The exchange drew strong reactions on social media, along with Luistro’s exchange with Sen. Pia Cayetano, who also cut her off.

Luistro said the public response should remind senator-judges of their constitutional role.

Prosecutors completed presenting evidence on Article IV, which concerns Duterte's alleged verbal threats, on Wednesday.
