A 23-year-old man wanted on two counts of qualified rape of a minor was arrested in Taguig City after authorities discovered an outstanding warrant against him while he was applying for a National Police Clearance (NPC), police said Wednesday.

The suspect, identified only by his alias "Louie John," was arrested at around 8:50 p.m. Tuesday at Taguig Police Sub-Station 9 along Cadena de Amor Street in Barangay Wawa.

According to the Taguig City Police Station, a routine background check conducted during the processing of the suspect's police clearance application generated a system "hit," prompting officers to verify his identity and records.

Police said the verification confirmed an outstanding warrant of arrest for two counts of qualified rape of a minor.

Police did not disclose further details of the charges or the alleged victims because the case involves a minor.
