The Bataan police have safely recovered five pieces of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) inside a manufacturing corporation in Hermosa, Bataan on 20 July 2026.
According to Bataan Police Provincial Office (BPPO) Director Police Col. Marites A. Salvadora, the said recovery of UXOs has prevented a potential public safety hazard in the said area.
Based on the report submitted to the director, personnel of the Hermosa Municipal Police Station, together with the Bataan Provincial Explosive and Canine Unit (PECU), immediately proceeded to the scene after the Site Manager of the said manufacturing corporation requested police assistance following the discovery of five UXOs by an excavator operator while conducting road-widening excavation activities inside the premises.
The Bataan PECU identified the recovered UXOs as follows: one piece Projectile, 90mm, High Explosive (Corroded); one piece Projectile, 105mm, High Explosive (Corroded); one piece Hand Grenade, Type 91 (Japanese); and two pieces Projectile, 150mm, High Explosive (Corroded). The recovered items are now under the custody of the Bataan PECU for proper disposition and disposal.
PCOL Salvadora encourages the public to remain vigilant and exercise caution when encountering unfamiliar objects that may be explosive in nature, and to immediately coordinate with authorities for proper assessment and handling.
