Armaments from communist terrorist group (CTG) as well as explosives were discovered in a cache during law enforcement operations held at the mountain borders of barangays of Rogus and Villaflor in Cauayan City and Barangay Calaoagan, San Guillermo, Isabela on 14 July 2026.
According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), the said discovery of the cache is possible thru the information provided by a former rebel.
The operation, led by the 2nd Isabela Provincial Mobile Force Company (2nd IPMFC), resulted in the recovery of two unserviceable caliber .50 machine guns, two M16 steel magazines, 57 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, two MK2 fragmentation hand grenades, two 40mm high-explosive cartridges, detonating cord, time fuse, batteries, assorted electrical wires, and other war materiel.
Authorities located the buried cache through information provided by a former rebel identified only by the alias "Andong." The recovered non-explosive items were turned over to the 2nd IPMFC, while the explosive materials were placed under the custody of the Cauayan Explosive Canine Unit.
"Malaking tulong ang impormasyong ibinabahagi ng mga nagbalik-loob sa pamahalaan sa ating kampanya laban sa armadong grupo. Hindi tayo titigil sa pagtunton at pagrekober ng mga armas at pampasabog," PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.
He added that this accomplishment reflects the PNP’s Focused Agenda—a strategic framework for institutional transformation. Among its key priorities is Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which strengthens intelligence-driven operations to locate and recover illegal weapons that threaten public safety.
