Vice President Sara Duterte has left the country for a two-week trip to Qatar and several European destinations, including the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) confirmed Tuesday, even as her impeachment trial continues before the Senate.
In a statement, the OVP said Duterte’s itinerary includes engagements in Qatar and participation in a forum and Filipino community events in the UK and the Netherlands, aimed at engaging overseas Filipinos and advancing Philippine interests abroad.
The OVP said the trip combines official engagements and personal activities but stressed that no government funds will be used throughout the trip.
Defense spokesperson Michael Poa earlier confirmed that Duterte was in The Hague as the impeachment proceedings continued, saying she remains represented before the Senate impeachment court by her legal team.
