#BrigadangAyala mobilized professional expertise from across the Ayala Group to support communities recovering from the 2025 Cebu earthquake.

Twenty-five community members from Barangay Binabag, Bogo City, Cebu completed a five-day masonry training under the Ayala Foundation’s #BrigadangAyala Rehabilitation Program last month. The training equipped them with practical skills that can support livelihood opportunities as they continue rebuilding after the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck near the area on 30 September 2025 causing widespread destruction across Regions VII and VIII.

Facilitated by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the training combined classroom instruction with hands-on application. Graduates received Certificates of Completion and construction tools to help them take the next step toward employment and masonry-related work.

A highlight of the program was the completion of a community Purok Center, built through the participants’ collective efforts. More than a structure, it stands as a testament to the skills gained, the progress made, and the community’s continued recovery.

The initiative was made possible through the support of Ayala Coop and the WeAreAyala Business Club Cebu, with employee-volunteers from MDC, BPI Direct BanKo, and APMC joining the culmination activity in support of the graduates.

The support of #BrigadangAyala to Cebu’s quake victims in rebuilding their homes and lives has won Ayala Foundation the Outstanding CSR Project in Disaster Resilience from the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF).

Two other CSR programs of the foundation — CENTEX Digital Education — High Touch, High Tech, and Amorsolo: Chroma — were also selected by LCF as finalists in their respective categories, reflecting its continued commitment to build thriving communities through education, arts and culture, and disaster resilience.

The winning Disaster Resilience initiative, Skills-Based Volunteerism in Cebu Disaster Response: Brigadang Ayala Relief and Rehabilitation Operations, mobilized professional expertise from across the Ayala Group to support communities recovering from the 2025 Cebu earthquake. Engineers, healthcare professionals, logistics specialists, financial literacy advocates, psychosocial support facilitators, and employee volunteers complemented relief with longer-term recovery and resilience-building efforts. In total, 965 volunteers were mobilized, contributing more than 8,600 volunteer hours in support of nearly 5,900 households across affected communities.

Other partners of the foundation to the Cebu earthquake response were TESDA; the local governments of Binabag and Bogo, AMove, Anko, Ayala Cooperative, Ayala Land Estates, Ayala Malls U, BPI-MS, CargoHaus/U-Freight, CORE & Premium RBG, GCash, Generika, Globe, Healthway, Isuzu, Makati Development Corporation, Seda Hotels, and SmartAID.
