A barangay captain was arrested for shooting a truck driver along JASA Road, Barangay San Antonio, Guagua on 17 July 2026.
According to the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), the 42-year-old suspect was arrested in a hot-pursuit operation in Barangay Sta. Maria, Lubao, less than 12 hours after shooting the 28-year-old victim.
The incident occurred at about 1:20 a.m. on July 17, 2026, following an alleged road altercation. The 28-year-old victim sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg and was immediately taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
Through CCTV backtracking, vehicle tracing, and close coordination with the Lubao Municipal Police Station and police stations in nearby towns, authorities identified and located the suspect. His licensed firearm allegedly used in the shooting was also seized from his possession and will be subjected to forensic examination. Appropriate criminal charges are being prepared against him.
