The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday reported a 30.43 percent decline in focus crime incidents nationwide in June 2026, attributing the improvement in peace and order to intensified police operations and stronger partnerships with local communities.
Among the eight focus crimes monitored by the PNP, carnapping of motor vehicles recorded the biggest decrease, falling by 66.67 percent from 27 cases in June 2025 to nine cases this year.
Rape cases dropped by 57.25 percent, from 697 to 298 cases, while physical injury cases declined by 40.15 percent, from 406 to 243 cases.
Other focus crimes also registered decreases during the period. Homicide cases fell by 27.38 percent, from 84 to 61 cases; carnapping of motorcycles declined by 25.93 percent, from 189 to 140 cases; robbery dropped by 23.23 percent, from 310 to 238 cases; theft decreased by 16.59 percent, from 1,067 to 890 cases; and murder declined by 11.60 percent, from 293 to 259 cases.
The PNP attributed the decline to the sustained implementation of its Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, through intensified law enforcement efforts, increased police visibility, focused crime prevention initiatives, and stronger partnerships with local government units, partner agencies, and communities.
The police organization said these efforts support the peace and security priorities of the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the latest figures reflect the dedication of police personnel but stressed that the organization would continue improving its services.
"Malaking bagay ang bawat krimeng napipigilan at bawat komunidad na mas nagiging ligtas. Ang pagbaba ng crime incidents ay nagsasabing nasa tamang direksyon ang ating mga ginagawa, pero hindi ito dahilan para magpakampante. Tuloy-tuloy lang ang trabaho natin para mapanatili ang kapayapaan at kaayusan," Nartatez said.
He added that public safety is a shared responsibility.
"Hindi ito tagumpay ng PNP lang. Bunga ito ng pagtutulungan ng ating mga pulis, mga lokal na pamahalaan, iba pang ahensya ng gobyerno, at ng mamamayan. Kapag sama-sama tayong nagbabantay at nagtutulungan, mas nagiging ligtas ang ating mga komunidad," he said.
Nartatez said the PNP remains committed to sustaining the gains through consistent and responsive policing under its campaign, "Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman."
