Ayala Land is expanding Lio Estate in El Nido, Palawan, with new infrastructure and mixed-use developments aimed at promoting sustainable tourism, community living, and environmental stewardship.
Spanning 320 hectares on the northeastern coast of El Nido, Lio was designed as a mixed-use estate where tourism, conservation and community development coexist. More than half of the property has been preserved as open spaces, including forests, mangroves, wetlands and ecological corridors.
“Lio Estate shows how responsible development can create places where both nature and community thrive,” said Cris Zuluaga, group head of Ayala Land Leisure Estates.
Among the projects lined up are a new transport terminal and events pavilion, a visitor’s center, a 3.7-kilometer boardwalk linking key destinations across the estate and the redevelopment of the Lio Jetty into a waterfront leisure and community hub.
Ayala Land is also launching Sitio Aplaya, a 16.3-hectare mixed-use district that will integrate residential, hospitality, retail, dining and lifestyle components within walking distance of Lio Beach and other estate attractions.
Creative director Paloma Urquijo Zobel de Ayala said Lio has evolved into a community where creativity, local culture and nature intersect.
“Lio attracts artists, entrepreneurs, makers and people who want to live with care and purpose. It’s a place where creativity and community can flourish while remaining deeply connected to nature,” she said.
Ayala Land said the latest investments aim to create a more connected, walkable and people-centered destination while preserving the natural character that has made El Nido one of the country’s premier island destinations.
