A casino dealer and two patrons were arrested after allegedly conspiring to defraud a resort-casino in Pasay City of around P750,000 through a fraudulent card-exposure scheme during a high-stakes poker game, police said Friday.
According to the Pasay City Police, the alleged fraud occurred at around 3:53 p.m. on Thursday, 2 July, at an Ultimate Texas Hold'Em poker table inside a resort-casino in the city.
The incident was reported to Pasay Police Sub-Station 9 at about 3 a.m. on Friday after the casino completed an internal investigation and security verification.
Police said the casino dealer allegedly conspired with three patrons by deliberately exposing his concealed hole cards and unrevealed community cards while the game was in progress.
The premature disclosure of confidential card information allegedly allowed the players to determine the outcome of each hand, adjust their wagers accordingly, and secure unlawful winnings at the casino's expense.
Investigators said surveillance footage showed the dealer repeatedly revealing critical cards to the players.
In one instance, he allegedly exposed the "Turn" community card and one of his hole cards, giving the bettors advance knowledge that their hands would win.
Authorities estimated the casino's losses at approximately P750,000.
One of the alleged accomplices managed to escape during the initial security intervention and remains at large.
The arrested suspects are facing complaints for violation of Article 315, Paragraph 3(b) of the Revised Penal Code, or estafa by resorting to fraudulent practices to ensure success in a gambling game.
