SM City Laoag reinforces commitment to safe, inclusive spaces

Reinforcing its commitment to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment, SM City Laoag conducted the fourth nationwide orientation on the Safe Spaces Act (Republic Act No. 11313) for its employees, tenant personnel, and security teams on 29 June.

The orientation aimed to deepen participants' understanding of the law by discussing its key provisions, including the prevention of gender-based sexual harassment in public spaces, workplaces, and online platforms. It also emphasized the shared responsibility of mall frontliners, tenants, and security personnel in ensuring that all visitors are treated with dignity and respect.

Participants were reminded of the importance of recognizing inappropriate behavior, responding to incidents properly, and fostering a culture where everyone feels welcome and protected while inside the mall.

The activity forms part of SM Supermalls' continuing nationwide campaign to promote safer public spaces through education, awareness, and accountability. By equipping its workforce and tenant community with the knowledge and tools to uphold the Safe Spaces Act, the company seeks to strengthen its commitment to customer welfare and workplace professionalism.

Through initiatives such as these, SM City Laoag continues to build an environment where employees, tenants, and shoppers alike can enjoy a mall experience that is safe, inclusive, and respectful for all.
