The Philippine Army has launched a new Project Management Information System (PMIS) and an Acquisition Handbook to strengthen procurement oversight and support its digital transformation.
Unveiled on 29 June at Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, the PMIS enables program managers, technical working groups, secretariats, and procuring entities to monitor procurement projects from planning to implementation, promoting greater transparency and accountability.
The Army also introduced an Acquisition Handbook that provides guidance on public fund management, government procurement, budgeting, contract implementation, and project compliance.
Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete said modernization goes beyond equipment and infrastructure.
“Modernization is not limited to equipment and infrastructure alone. It also requires stronger systems, better processes, and empowered personnel who are capable of meeting the demands of today and the challenges of tomorrow,” Nafarrete said.
