Army launches digital project management system, acquisition handbook

The Philippine Army has launched a new Project Management Information System (PMIS) and an Acquisition Handbook to strengthen procurement oversight, improve project management, and support its ongoing digital transformation.
The system was unveiled on 29 June at the Headquarters Philippine Army in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
According to the Philippine Army's Project and Modernization Management Center (PMMC), the PMIS is designed to streamline the tracking, monitoring, and management of procurement projects from planning through implementation.
The digital platform enables program managers, technical working groups, secretariats, and procuring entities to monitor project progress, promoting greater accountability and transparency throughout the procurement process.
The Army also introduced its Acquisition Handbook, which provides practical guidance on the responsible use of public funds, government procurement, budgeting, contract implementation, and project compliance.
In his keynote address, Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete urged personnel to maximize the use of both the PMIS and the handbook in carrying out their responsibilities.
"Modernization is not limited to equipment and infrastructure alone. It also requires stronger systems, better processes, and empowered personnel who are capable of meeting the demands of today and the challenges of tomorrow," Nafarrete said.
The Philippine Army said the initiatives form part of its continuing efforts to build a more efficient, transparent, and accountable organization in support of its modernization program.
