House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III on Sunday called for greater inclusivity and equality for all Filipinos, stating that the right to live with dignity and respect is a fundamental right rather than a privilege.
In a video message marking the celebration of Pride Month, Dy stressed that every individual deserves a place in society regardless of background, belief, or identity.
“No one person should experience discrimination or being belittled because in a fair and modern country, the respect for the dignity of people is not a privilege of the few but the right of everyone,” Dy said.
The House leader said Pride Month serves as a reminder that fairness begins with understanding, acceptance comes through compassion, and national unity is formed by recognizing the individuality of every citizen.
Dy urged the public to build a more equitable nation where individuals can thrive on their own terms without societal pressure.
“Equality means ensuring that every person is seen, heard, respected and given the opportunity to thrive,” Dy said.
“When people are free to live authentically and contribute their talents without fear or prejudice, our communities become stronger, more compassionate, and more united,” he added.
