“No one person should experience discrimination or being belittled because in a fair and modern country, the respect for the dignity of people is not a privilege of the few but the right of everyone,” he said.
The lawmaker mentioned that Pride Month was a reminder that fairness began through understanding, that acceptance came through compassion, and that togetherness was formed through the recognition of the personalities of every Filipino.
Dy called on the public to become part of a country that was more inclusive, compassionate, and equitable for everyone as it allowed for each person to thrive on their own terms, without the feeling of pressure from their peers.
“Equality means ensuring that every person is seen, heard, respected, and given the opportunity to thrive. When people are free to live authentically and contribute their talents without fear or prejudice, our communities become stronger, more compassionate, and more united,” he said.
