ILOILO CITY — Indigenous peoples and residents of the Jaro II District received essential healthcare services during the launch of the PuroKalusugan Program and Caravan on 25 June.
The community-based initiative, implemented by the Iloilo City Health Office in partnership with the Department of Health, aims to deliver medical services directly to villages.
The program focuses on health promotion, disease prevention, and early intervention, allowing families in underserved communities to access medical care and health information without traveling long distances.
The caravan served residents from 13 Jaro II District villages: Balabago, Balantang, Bito-on, Buhang, Buntatala, Camalig, Cubay, Lanit, M.V. Hechanova, Tabuc Suba, Tacas, Tagbac and Quintin Salas.
Residents accessed a wide range of free health services and informational campaigns covering rabies awareness, mental health, family planning, maternal and newborn care, child health, adolescent health, nutrition, smoking cessation, noncommunicable diseases and tuberculosis treatment through the TB-DOTS program.
