A Filipina caregiver in Israel perished while evacuating her patient going to a bomb shelter, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. confirmed on Sunday.
“Ikinalulungkot ko na meron po tayong natanggap na report na meron na pong casualty na Pilipino dito po sa gera na nangyayari po sa middle east. Nareport po sa atin ay namatay po ang isang Mary Anne Velazquez Rivera na taga-Pangasinan. Siya po ay isang caregiver sa Israel na tinutulungan ang kanyang alaga para dalhin sa bomb shelter ngunit hindi na po naka-abot sa bomb shelter at inabutan na sila bago sila nakarating,” said Marcos Jr. in a video message.
The President said the victim was hit by a shrapnel when the bomb dropped in an undisclosed place in Israel.
“Na-identify na po siya ng kanyang asawa na isang OFW din na nagtrtrbaho sa Israel. Lahat po ng tulong na kakailanganin ng kanilang pamilya ay ihahatid ng ating pamahalaan,” Marcos Jr stated.
He maintained that the government continue to monitor the situation of fellowmen in the Middle East.
“Patuloy po ang ating pag-monitor sa kalagayan ng ating kababayan na nasa gitna nitong gera dahil patuloy pa rin sa Middle East. Asahan po ninyo na kapag mayroong tayong mai-rereport ay irereport ko po sa inyo kaagad,” he said.
