Denza entered the Philippine market with the launch of the D9, a large plug-in hybrid minivan priced at P4,298,000. The model serves as the brand’s first offering in the country and places it squarely in the premium people mover segment.

The D9 runs on a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with two electric motors and a 40 kWh battery. Combined output stands at 401 horsepower and 681 Nm of torque. Power goes to all four wheels.

Denza states a pure electric range of up to 180 kilometers and a combined driving range of up to 980 kilometers. Under supported charging conditions, the battery can move from 30 to 80 percent in around 25 minutes.

In terms of size, the D9 measures 5,250 mm long, 1,960 mm wide, and 1,920 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,110 mm.

LONG body and 3,110 mm wheelbase give the Denza D9 a larger footprint than rivals such as the Toyota Alphard.

The cabin has Nappa leather seats in a black and brown color scheme. Real wood trim appears across sections of the dashboard and door panels.

A 15.6-inch touchscreen sits at the center and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In front of the driver is a digital instrument display along with a heads-up display.

Second row seating has captain seats including heating, ventilation, and massage functions. A touch control panel on the armrest handles seat adjustments and climate settings. A built-in refrigerator sits within reach and can cool drinks to minus six degrees Celsius or warm items up to 50 degrees Celsius.

The vehicle also carries tri-zone climate control, 128 color ambient lighting, a 14-speaker Dynaudio sound system, wireless smartphone charging, and multiple USB ports spread across the cabin.

Exterior design leans toward a bold stance with a large grille with silver accents dominating the front section. LED headlamps flank the fascia. The side profile shows defined character lines, privacy glass, electrically folding side mirrors, and 18-inch wheels.

At the rear, full-width LED tail lamps stretch across the tailgate. A power tailgate comes standard.

Safety features include nine airbags and the DiPilot driver assistance suite. Systems cover adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert, emergency lane keeping assist, and parking sensors.

Denza operates as the premium arm of BYD in China. In the Philippines, the brand functions under BYD Philippines Corporation.

Each purchase comes with an eight-year or 150,000 kilometer battery warranty. Buyers also receive 24-hour roadside assistance, three years of preventive maintenance service, and both an AC wall charger and a portable charger.

Early customers receive a P300,000 discount for the first 300 units, which lowers the introductory price to P3,998,000.

With the D9, Denza places its bet on electrified performance, generous space, and a long list of comfort features as it begins its run in the Philippines.
