Motorcycle sales in the Philippines recovered in the third quarter of 2026 as stronger demand in August and September helped the industry overcome a slowdown earlier in the year.

The Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA) reported that its members sold 524,860 motorcycles from July to September, an 8.1 percent increase from the 485,690 units recorded during the same period last year.

The recovery followed a 4.2 percent decline in the second quarter, which interrupted the industry’s strong start to 2026. Sales had grown 11.6 percent during the first three months of the year.

September posted the highest monthly sales volume for the first nine months of 2026, after consecutive monthly gains in August and September.

The third-quarter performance brought total sales from January to September to 1,464,388 units, up 5.1 percent from the 1,392,744 motorcycles sold during the corresponding period in 2025.

Automatic motorcycles continued to account for the largest share of the market, representing approximately 73.6 percent of total sales among MDPPA members during the third quarter.

MDPPA president Erwin Estrada welcomed the recovery and expressed optimism about the industry’s performance during the remaining months of the year.

“The rebound in the third quarter is an encouraging sign for the industry, especially with the stronger performance we saw in August and September,” Estrada said.

He added that the association remains optimistic about meeting its full-year sales targets.

The latest figures put the industry in a stronger position ahead of the final quarter, although its full-year performance will depend on sales during the remaining three months.

Motorcycles continue to serve as an important transport option in the Philippines, particularly for commuters who depend on two-wheeled vehicles for their daily travel.

AUTOMATIC motorcycles, such as the Honda Click 125, accounted for 73.6 percent of MDPPA members’ third-quarter sales in 2026.
