A sweeping story that stretches from prehistoric Earth to deep space is about to unfold at home screens across the Philippines.
Searchlight Pictures has unveiled a brand-new trailer for In the Blink of an Eye, the latest feature from Academy Award-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton. The thought-provoking drama is now streaming exclusively on Disney+ Philippines.
Adapted from the acclaimed 2016 Black List screenplay by Colby Day, Stanton shapes the material into an ambitious three-part narrative that spans thousands of years. Though separated by centuries, each storyline is bound by one enduring theme: humanity’s instinct to connect — with each other and with the fragile worlds we inhabit.
In a distant prehistoric landscape, a displaced Neanderthal family, portrayed by Jorge Vargas and Tanaya Beatty, fights for survival in a harsh and unfamiliar terrain. As they protect their children and adapt to primitive tools, their struggle becomes a testament to resilience at the dawn of humankind.
Shift to the present day, where anthropologist Claire, played by Rashida Jones, immerses herself in the study of early proto-human remains. Amid her academic pursuits, she finds herself cautiously opening up to fellow student Greg, portrayed by Daveed Diggs.
Then leap forward two centuries into the future: aboard a spacecraft traveling toward a distant planet, Coakley (Kate McKinnon) faces a crisis when a mysterious illness threatens the oxygen-producing plants sustaining the ship. With the help of a sentient onboard computer, survival once again hangs in the balance.
Across these intersecting timelines, the film meditates on hope, evolution, love and the fragile threads that bind generations together.
A stellar creative team
Best known for visionary works like WALL·E and Finding Nemo, Stanton brings his signature emotional depth to this expansive sci-fi drama. Producing the film is Jared Ian Goldman, while behind the scenes, Stanton is joined by a powerhouse creative team: cinematographer Ole Birkeland, production designer Ola Maslik, editor Mollie Goldstein, costume designer Mirren Gordon-Crozier and VFX supervisor Jake Braver.
With its layered storytelling and emotionally resonant performances, In the Blink of an Eye promises a cinematic journey that bridges millennia — reminding viewers that no matter the era, the human need for connection remains timeless.
