President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. declined to comment Saturday on Vice President Sara Duterte’s announcement that she intends to run for president in 2028, saying the decision is solely hers to make.

“Nothing really. That’s her choice,” Marcos told reporters during his visit to Naga City, where he inspected ongoing flood control projects.

The President made the remark while standing beside former vice president and current Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo. He also refused to comment on reports that his sister, Senator Imee Marcos, is considering running alongside Duterte in 2028.

“Again, again this is all politics. I’m not going to, we’re not going to discuss politics now,” he said.

The President emphasized that his visit to Naga was not politically motivated, amid speculation about possible alliances and presidential contenders in 2028. He said the trip was focused on public service, particularly addressing flooding concerns in the area.

Marcos maintained that discussions about the 2028 elections would not be entertained during official engagements, stressing that governance and service delivery remain the administration’s priorities.
