Distressed fishing boat rescued off Capon Grande waters

A distressed fishing boat was rescued in the vicinity waters off Capon Grande, Zambales, on 18 February 2026.

According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the BRP Cabra (MRRV-4409) was conducting a maritime patrol in the vicinity waters of Bajo de Masinloc when it sighted FBCA Gift in the vicinity of Silanguin Island, Zambales.

Immediately, MRRV-4409 proceeded to the location and started a towing operation en route to Subic, Zambales.

According to the crew, FBCA Gift departed Subic, Zambales, for a fishing venture and sustained damage to its motor due to rough sea conditions.

The PCG also rescued two crew members from FB Extra Pit, which was allegedly struck by a dolphin on its starboard quarter, causing it to submerge.

MRRV-4409 will escort FBCA Gift, with five crew members, and the two rescued crew members from FB Extra Pit to the Coast Guard Station Zambales for further assistance.A distressed fishing boat was rescued at the at vicinity waters off Capon Grande, Zambales on February 18, 2026.
