The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) led the awarding of P100,000 cash gifts to four Aeta centenarians during a ceremony held 11 February at the Capas Events Center.
The financial assistance was granted under the Expanded Centenarians Act (ECA), which provides cash incentives to Filipinos who reach 100 years old. The centenarians also received felicitation letters from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., recognizing their longevity and lifelong contributions to their families and communities.
The event forms part of the NCSC’s continuing mandate to implement programs that uphold the welfare, dignity and rights of senior citizens, including those from indigenous communities and geographically isolated areas.
Senior Citizens party-list Rep. Rodolfo “Ompong” Ordanes attended the ceremony in support of the initiative.
The NCSC said the distribution of benefits highlights the government’s commitment to strengthening social protection mechanisms and ensuring that qualified senior citizens nationwide receive the assistance provided under the law.
