Police in Quezon City arrested a 26-year-old man known by the alias “Jomar” over an alleged robbery extortion case, authorities said Tuesday.
According to police, the case stemmed from a complaint filed at the Novaliches Police Station by a woman who claimed her boyfriend of three months had been threatening to demand money in exchange for not spreading her nude photos and videos.
The victim told police she had already sent P20,000 to the suspect out of fear but said he later demanded additional payments, prompting her to seek police assistance.
Authorities conducted an entrapment operation, leading to the suspect’s arrest after he allegedly attempted to flee in front of SM Novaliches.
Police recovered one genuine P1,000 bill, 19 pieces of P1,000 boodle money, a Honda ADV motorcycle and its key, and a mobile phone from the suspect.
Aside from robbery extortion, the suspect is set to face additional charges for violations of the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act and resistance and disobedience to a person in authority for allegedly resisting arrest. Charges will be filed before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
