Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon has ordered continuous clearing operations on roads in Mindanao affected by Tropical Cyclone Basyang.
The order follows a directive from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure public safety and speed up relief operations.
Secretary Dizon has instructed DPWH Quick Response Teams to fast-track clearing and repair works on two roads that remain closed and two road sections with limited access as of 10 a.m. on 9 February 2026 in Regions 10 and 13, namely:
Lanao del Norte Interior Circumferential Road (LDNCR) Panuliran Bridge, K1531+528, Brgy. Abuno, Iligan City – closed due to a collapsed bridge;
Surigao-Davao Coastal Road, intermittent sections in Barangays Nurcia and Sibahay in Lanuza, and Barangay Burgos in Cortes, Surigao del Sur – affected by soil collapse, landslides, and road slip.
Motorists are also advised to avoid two road sections with limited access while clearing operations are ongoing:
Tambacan Road-Tubod National Highway Junction, Mariano Lluch Badelles Sr. Bridge in Brgy. Tambacan, Iligan City – passable to light vehicles only due to flooding;
Sta. Felomina – Bonbonon – Digkilaan – Rogongon Road, Brgy. Digkilaan and Brgy. Bonbonon sections in Iligan City – passable to light vehicles only due to landslides and fallen trees.
