Around 100 couples were married in Malabon City’s Kasalang Bayan 2026 at the Malabon Sports Complex, with the city government linking the event to its environmental program.

Mayor Jeannie Sandoval officiated the ceremony, organized by the Civil Registry Department. It was the third mass wedding under her administration.

Each participating couple was required to bring one sack of used PET bottles during the rehearsal as part of the city’s waste segregation campaign.

According to the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, 176.66 kilos of PET bottles were collected and will be processed for recycling.

In exchange, each couple received a recycled trash bin from the city government.

To reduce costs for the couples, the city government covered expenses including Philippine Statistics Authority documents, marriage license application fees, and marriage contract registration fees.

Newlyweds also received financial assistance and a sack of rice.

“Congratulations to our newlyweds. From this day on, you are one, so always prioritize the welfare of your spouse and the family you will build. The city government is here to guide and support you,” the mayor said.

“At the same time, we encourage every newlywed to continue supporting our environmental programs. When our surroundings are in order, families can live more comfortably.”

City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete said: “Many couples dream of getting married someday. Here in Malabon, the city government under Mayor Jeannie Sandoval is helping fulfill that dream. May this new chapter in the lives of those married be happy, prosperous and filled with love.”
