Caloocan wins two Pearl Awards
‘As the home of heroes, we are recognized not only for our city’s rich history, but also for other aspects, such as tourism promotion activities, active appreciation of culture and tradition, and the expansion of the talent and creativity of our countrymen.’

The local government of Caloocan secured two grand winner titles at the 27th Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines National Convention and Pearl Awards, standing out among 606 local government units nationwide.
The Caloocan Cultural Affairs and Tourism Office (CCATO) clinched top honors in the categories of best tourism promotions video and best tourism month celebration.
Mayor Dale Gonzalo Malapitan, Caloocan Cultural Affairs and Tourism Council chairperson Aubrey Malapitan, and CCATO officer-in-charge Carissa Camua-Policarpio spearheaded the initiatives that successfully showcased the city’s history, heritage, and tourism programs.
Winning entries featured the city’s annual tourism month activities, including Festive Aliwan, Arangkada Caloocan, the Annual Caloocan Music Festival, sustainable tourism livelihood training sessions, and Runway Caloocan.
“As the home of heroes, we are recognized not only for our city’s rich history, but also for other aspects, such as tourism promotion activities, active appreciation of culture and tradition, and the expansion of the talent and creativity of our countrymen,” Malapitan said.
He stressed that the national recognition proves Caloocan can excel in tourism despite lacking natural coastal or forest attractions.
“Even though we do not have a sea or forests, Caloocan can be considered more than just a city because we possess the wealth of history, culture, and the heart of the Batang Kankaloo. Therefore, let us all together support, protect, love, and value what is truly ours,” the mayor added.
