Scare tactics

Ahead of Halloween, homes in the United States are getting a spooky makeover.
In Bucks County, Pennsylvania, the front yard of a home in Bristol Borough displays inflatable horror characters and mock cadavers.
Some neighbors, however, complained about the bodies wrapped in black bags and hanging from a tree, saying such decorations evoked America’s painful history of racial violence, NBC Philadelphia reported.
An offended neighbor reported the display to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and a local chapter of the civil rights group addressed the concern.
A Bucks County NAACP representative asked the homeowner to voluntarily remove or modify the decorations, but the latter refused, saying he purchased the decorations as a kit online and did not intend to offend anyone.
“At first I looked at it, and it’s a little bit different. Like, but then I’m looking, it’s Halloween. My house is scary. My house is always scary. It’s always set up scary. Same thing. Dead bodies lying around, skeletons. It’s Halloween,” Bristol Borough resident Mike Wade told NBC 10.
Meanwhile, a rider in Bulacan had a different Halloween gimmick.
A CCTV camera caught the rider and a back rider wearing a killer clown costume as they cruised along a highway in Baliwag town, GMA News reported. The video showed that they were not wearing helmets and that the back rider was holding a chainsaw.
The riders’ traffic violations came to the attention of the Land Transportation Office (LTO), which suspended the driver’s license of the rider for 90 days.
The LTO also issued a warning against scaring motorists, as this may cause a road crash.
