National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) officer-in-charge Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano directed police units across Metro Manila on Friday to step up operations against unauthorized fuel dealers and illegal petroleum trading.

Abrahano issued the directive following the arrest of four individuals in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City, for alleged illegal petroleum operations, emphasizing that law enforcement will strictly enforce regulations as the government works to protect public fuel supplies.

“Such activities will not be tolerated as the government works to ensure adequate fuel supplies for the Filipino public,” Abrahano said.

The regional director ordered police intelligence units and station commanders to intensify surveillance, verify reports of clandestine fuel storage and distribution, and coordinate with relevant government regulatory agencies for swift enforcement.

Police authorities warned that illegal petroleum trading undermines legitimate supply networks, deprives the government of tax revenues, and creates unfair market competition.

Law enforcement officials noted that black-market fuel exposes consumers to adulterated products, deceptive pricing, and severe fire and safety hazards due to improper storage.

Abrahano urged motorists and business owners to purchase petroleum products exclusively from licensed filling stations and authorized suppliers, cautioning the public against suspiciously cheap fuel offers and unverified distributors.
