Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso inaugurated the city’s first public electric vehicle charging station at Manila City Hall on Monday, marking a major step toward sustainable urban mobility.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Kartilya ng Katipunan formalized a partnership between the city government and ACMobility, the EV infrastructure arm of the AC Enterprises group, to expand public charging networks across the capital.
Located at City Hall, the new station is equipped with one 30-kilowatt DC fast charger and one 22-kilowatt AC charger, providing accessible charging options for motorists without private facilities.
Domagoso stressed that partnering with the private sector allows the city to proactively address urban challenges despite resource limitations.
“Here is the proof where the government is looking at the future, looking at future problems,” Domagoso said, adding that the station alleviates range anxiety for EV owners since it is open to the general public.
ACMobility, which operates over 200 hub locations and 600 charge points nationwide, plans to roll out additional stations at Bagong Ospital ng Maynila and Sta. Ana Hospital before the end of 2026.
Vice Mayor Angela Lei “Chi” Atienza joined the mayor in leading the inauguration alongside ACMobility representatives.
