Law enforcement authorities intercepted an abandoned air cargo parcel containing approximately 100 grams of suspected shabu valued at P680,000 at a warehouse along Domestic Road.

The parcel, mislabeled as “cloth,” was detected during initial X-ray screening and manual physical inspection by Bureau of Customs personnel. A Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) K-9 unit subsequently confirmed the presence of illegal drugs.

Shipping manifests indicated that the parcel originated from Dasmariñas City, Cavite, and was consigned for delivery to Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

The seized narcotics will be turned over to the PDEA National Office in Diliman, Quezon City, for laboratory testing, proper disposition and further legal investigation.

“Our vigilance must extend beyond passenger screening to every parcel and cargo that passes through our facilities,” Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group director Brig. Gen. Dionesio Bartolome said.

“Through strong inter-agency cooperation and unwavering commitment to our mandate, we will continue to close every possible avenue for illegal drugs to enter and move through our airports,” he added.
