The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) has assured investors, locators, and the public that overall commercial and industrial activities within the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) remain stable, uninterrupted, and continue to support the growth of the local economy.
The issuance of statement came on 28 January 2026, after a social media post surfaced that two gasoline stations at the entry of the Mariveles Zigzag inside the FAB have closed, questioning whether these were closed due to renovations or due to financial problems.
According to AFAB, the Petron fuel station (SJ FAB Petron Service Corporation) is currently closed for scheduled renovation works, which is part of its ongoing efforts to maintain and improve infrastructure and services for locators, workers, and visitors.
“Operations at the Petron station are expected to resume following completion of the renovation.”
Meanwhile, the Star Oil fuel station (The Creemore Marketing Corporation) has been tagged non-operational since last year. “This status has remained unchanged and is part of the routine evolution of commercial facilities within the Freeport,” AFAB stated.
AFAB cited that the Authority, under the leadership of Administrator and CEO Hussein Pangandaman, remains committed to providing a conducive environment for business operations and infrastructure enhancements.
“AFAB encourages the public and media to follow verified information released through its official communication channels and accredited media partners.”
