The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Mariveles Municipal Jail are eyeing a potential partnership that would provide livelihood opportunities for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).

During a meeting at the AFAB Administration Building on 3 February 2026, AFAB Administrator and CEO Hussein Pangandaman met with BJMP Mariveles JS Insp. Don Mari Phil B. Frayna to discuss potential partnerships for CSR activities and create opportunities to support PDLs.

The discussion covered the possible turnover of usable items and sewing scraps, seminars on sewing and welding, and employment opportunities where locators engage PDLs in product manufacturing.

The meeting explored broader areas of collaboration with Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) locators and potential AFAB support initiatives that contribute to rehabilitation programs aiming to improve PDL welfare.

BJMP Bataan has been providing programs and services to PDLS, providing livelihood and education such as Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I scholarships for PDLs.

The BJMP also conduct community engagements such as personnel and trainees frequently participating in local initiatives like coastal clean-up drives in the town of Orani.

Meanwhile, the Mariveles Municipal Jail was recently recognized as one of the top five municipal jails in Region III for its excellence in program implementation.

Recently, the Mariveles Municipal Jail formally received the donated books from Limay National High School, headed by Mr. Frederick Y. Simbol, School Principal.

The said donation will significantly support the educational initiatives of the jail unit, particularly the Alternative Learning System (ALS), by providing additional instructional materials that will enhance learning opportunities, knowledge development, and rehabilitation of PDLs.

The jail unit extends its sincere appreciation to Limay National High Schooll for its generosity and steadfast commitment to education, rehabilitation, and strengthened community partnership.
