CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Soldiers have uncovered an arms cache linked to the New People’s Army in Barangay Tanauan, Real, Quezon during an operation on Sunday, 18 January 2026, according to the Philippine Army.

Troops from the 80th Infantry Battalion under the 202nd Infantry Brigade acted on information provided by a concerned citizen, leading to the discovery of the cache containing high-powered firearms, ammunition, and explosive components.

Following the recovery, Lt. Col. Marco Antonio A. Magisa INF (GSC) PA, commanding officer of the 80th Infantry Battalion, said authorities are conducting follow-up operations to trace the source of the seized items and identify NPA members linked to the cache.

"These weapons were clearly intended to be used to disrupt peace and stability in our communities. By working closely with residents who come forward with vital information, we are able to stay one step ahead and protect the people of Quezon province," Magisa said.

The latest recovery comes weeks after another NPA-linked arms cache was discovered by the 85th Infantry Battalion and the Philippine National Police in Lopez, Quezon on 24 December. That operation also yielded firearms and other war materiel.
