Veronica Duterte files motion in habeas corpus cases for former president

On 05 January 2026, petitioner Veronica "Kitty" Duterte filed a memorandum in the consolidated habeas corpus petitions for former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte (FPRRD) in G.R. Nos. 278763, 278768, and 278798.

The memorandum asks the Supreme Court to address the legality of Duterte’s arrest and detention without a warrant and to consider claims regarding his alleged rendition to a foreign tribunal.

The filing was submitted by Salvador Paolo A. Panelo Jr., managing partner of Panelo Law Office, acting as counsel for Veronica Duterte.
