Vice President Sara Duterte called on Catholic faithful to live out the love and sacrifices of Jesus Christ for humanity, as they commemorate this year's Feast of the Black Nazarene.
"In our celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene, we reaffirm our steadfast faith as Filipinos," she said in a statement.
"The devotion to the Black Nazarene reminds us of the incomparable love, sacrifice, and humility of Jesus for humanity," the Vice President added.
Duterte also said that every year, every step taken by the devotees, despite the hardships and trials, strengthens their faith.
"The Feast of the Black Nazarene is not just a celebration of a long-standing tradition, it is a call to reflect on our shortcomings, seek forgiveness, and give thanks for all the blessings that we received," she said.
"May the Black Nazarene serves as an inspiration for us to continue living the teachings of love and trust in God's plan," the Vice President added.
