Anti-drug operatives seized nearly P70 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested two suspects, including a high-value individual (HVI), during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Dampas, Tagbilaran City, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported Wednesday.
PNP Chief Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the operation was conducted around 11:06 p.m., Tuesday, by the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO), with the Tagbilaran City Police Station (CPS) serving as support.
The operatives confiscated approximately 10,285.6 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P69,942,080, along with buy-bust money and other items.
“All arrested suspects and confiscated items were immediately turned over to the Tagbilaran CPS for documentation and proper disposition,” Nartatez said, adding that charges under Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared.
Nartatez commended the operating units, calling the seizure a demonstration of the PNP’s intelligence-driven approach against illegal drugs.
“This operation sends a clear message that the PNP remains relentless in going after those who profit from illegal drugs. Walang puwang sa ating mga komunidad ang ganitong uri ng kriminalidad. Our personnel will continue to work day and night to protect the public,” he said.
The operation reflects the PNP’s Focus Agenda and the Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) strategy, highlighting coordination and intelligence-led policing.
